Getting an OS out of a ROM

Does anyone have any tips on getting the OS out of a ROM image? I have a hex editor open with the ROM, but I have no idea where the OS starts and ends.
Please provide background info, such as what platform? Windows CE? Android? Prizms? nspire? 8x?

Oh, sorry, forgot to mention any of that. It's a (valid) TI-84 Plus Silver Edition ROM with OS 2.53MP on it.
