I'll give the answer a little later. Smile

Is it (1st letter)(1st + 2nd)(2nd + 3rd) etc
HELLO = HMYKZ
HELLO == HLWIW
K.maths off a lotta bit, but other than that did I guess right?
Your math was right. Whether your hypothesis is right hasn't been tested against the clues.

Well, what you ended up doing was (1st)(1st + 2nd)(1st + 2nd + 3rd)…. This is consistent with your answer, if not your description.
Is it previouschar+currentchar-offsetfromfirstchar?

Here's a harder one:
hello = cj2gt
cow = zrt

You tell me.

Also, thread hijack?
Nah, I figured since you'd already solved that one id add another puzzle
It's solved when it's actually revealed how it's done.
Wait...are you on Raylins team or the solving squad?
Call me a prude, but I think it's better to give others a chance to solve the puzzle first. Maybe you'd like to give it another go?
Lol. Modesty of a genius Razz If I knew Id just blurt it out and everyone coud get over it.
Apparently, there were two ways to solve this. :c
I am sad.

I made it by appending searched letters in the alphabet to the end of the alphabet and taking the first letter from that new shifted mutation.
You mean, like: C Q=C+O N=Q+W?
Solution:
  • Map each letter to the position that it occupies in the alphabet.
  • Begin with zero.
  • Repeat these steps until the ciphertext and the plaintext have equal length:
    • Add to this the next value in the sequence.
    • If it's less than 26, subtract 1; otherwise, subtract 26.
    • Print the corresponding letter of the alphabet.
I am well pleased Razz

My brain shutdown right now lol. I was figuring 7% tax on $19.88 in my head earlier
That's obviously $1.99 - 3*$0.20 = $1.39. Wink Nice puzzle there, Raylin, and Weregoose and Anakclusmos, good for both of you for sticking with it. Shall we try a few more of these? I'm disappointed I didn't get to try that one.
