Here is a joke...

So a man's dog has been lying in the same place for days. The guy brings him to the vet and the vet says
"I am sorry, your dog is dead, but I will do some tests."

So he goes back and lets a labrador retriever out the door. The lab goes up to the dog, sniffs it, and walks away. The vet then lets a cat out and the cat goes up to the dog, sniffs it, and also walks away.


So the vet goes abck out and says
"Yep, your dog is definitely dead, that will be 1500 dollars."

"1500 dollars? All you did was tell me my dog was dead!"

"yeah, but I did a cat-scan and a lab-test."

hehe, made me chuckle - but what would happen if he simple refused payment?

what I was getting at that one way to force payment would be to hold the animal in question until payment is received (this would work in every other situation). Who wants a dead dog?
