Hi there. I have a Ti-84 Plus C Silver Edition calculator. I wanted to play Super Mario 83+ on it, so I downloaded it and synced it to my calculator. However, when I try to run it, it gives a syntax error. I have tried the Asm command as well. When I try to open the program, it gives gibberish. Is there something I'm doing wrong here? Is it just flat-out incompatible with my calculator?

Thanks for any help I could get about this.
Welcome to Cemetech. There are two related answers to your problem:
1) First, you can't run any TI-83 Plus/TI-84 Plus games on your TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition. There are plenty of BASIC games and Assembly games that you can run, though, with more being created every day. See our TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition program archives for what exists so far.
2) Second, to run games and other programs, Doors CSE 8 will make your life easier. It's in a nearly-complete state; you can download a pre-release version from http://dcs.cemetech.net or check back in about a week for the final release.

Finally, don't hesitate to Introduce Yourself, especially if you have any interest in exploring some programming on your own.
thank you
