I'm looking to learn to play rts games on linux, but I haven't found any good options. Most of the rts games I've seen either have exorbant amounts of units and ginormous tech trees. I'm not too happy about that because I don't want to have to put that much effort into learning what units are. It also seems that many games last for hours, and communities are mostly dead. There are some commercial rts games out there that look like they could be good, but I'm not sure I want to pay to experiment with a genre that I might not play that much. Does anyone know of some good rts games for linux that are good for a beginner?
There are a few that I know of, but haven't really tried.

- 0ad
- FreeCiv
- Open TTD

I haven't looked into 0ad, but Freeciv is tbs, and openttd is a sandbox game.
My apologies. As I said I have not really played them.
