Who said summer was all about lazing around in the sun?!?
Wouldn’t it be a better time for a little programming contest?!?

So Wewe are proud to announce the upcoming Contest Planète Casio 2025 a.k.a. CPC#32, a competition where your creativity and coding skills will make all the difference!

Contest Dates:
Start: Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 8:00 PM (Paris - France Time)
End: Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 8:00 PM (Paris - France Time)
Duration: 14 days to design a game for a Casio calculator!
To be valid, your entry must be submitted no later than Saturday, August 30 at 8:00 PM, either by posting it in the dedicated contest thread or uploading it to the program database and then dropping a message in the thread (the post’s date and time will be the official reference).

The theme of CPC#32 will be revealed on Saturday, August 16 at 8:00 PM (Paris - France Time), officially kicking off the contest.

The results will be announced the weekend following the contest’s end, no later than Sunday, September 7.

Accepted platforms:
Games must be compatible with at least one Casio calculator we can test, which covers a wide range:
► All monochrome Graph models (SH3 and SH4)
► All color Graph models (Prizm series, Graph 90+E, Graph Math+)
► New this year: ClassPad 400

All game types are accepted (though some options won’t be available depending on the machine):
► Games in official Python, PythonExtra, or MicroPython
► Games in official BASIC or C.Basic
► Native programs (C/C++ or ASM) as an add-in (G1A or G3A) or a binary running with HollyHock2

The goal:
Fit your entire idea into the limits of a modest yet powerful machine in skilled hands!
Don’t be too ambitious: start small and add elements gradually so you don’t end up with a half-finished game at the end. Two weeks is both long and short — manage your time and effort wisely…
A non-functional game cannot be judged, so it would be a shame to have nothing ready at the end.

Rules:

► All code must be written during the jam period. You may reuse small code snippets, but in the spirit of fairness, keep reused code to a minimum.
► The game must run on a Casio calculator (not just an emulator or PC). Specify the model(s) and application used to run your code, either in your forum post or in an accompanying file.
► No hacks or manual tweaks should be required. Testing will be done on a “clean” machine. Everything needed to run the game must be provided (e.g., scripts or libraries in a zip archive). Instructions for launching the game are highly appreciated.
► The source code must be accessible (it doesn’t have to be open source — you can apply any license — but it must be viewable).
► Any registered member can participate. If you’re not registered yet, sign up here and feel free to introduce yourself here.

Judging criteria:
Games will be scored according to the usual CPC scale, for a total of 10 points:
Gameplay: 3 points
Graphics & interface: 3 points
Story & universe: 2 points
Level design: 1 point
Bonus: 1 point

Gameplay covers the core of your game — originality, balance, difficulty tuning, and good use of game elements.
Graphics & interface covers visuals, animations, smoothness, and clarity of controls.
Story & universe evaluates the game’s lore, characters, and setting.
Level design evaluates how levels, puzzles, and challenges are structured.
Bonus is an extra point awarded for originality, rare genres, or a “wow” factor.

Code quality is not graded (unless there are bugs everywhere), and game length is not considered. The game must, however, be playable with at least minimal gameplay.
Make sure to clearly explain your game’s controls, mechanics, and story, especially if not included in-game.

Prizes:
Thanks to our partners (Casio Education and Calcuso), the top two entries will receive:
► 1st Prize: Graph Math+ (OS 2.00) with MPM [and PythonExtra] preinstalled + goodies from the Planète Casio stash
► 2nd Prize: Choice of a case or cover + goodies from the same stash

Yes it is Very Happy
In France, many people are taking their vacations in August, so this is clearly the summer break ?

For Southern Hemisphere, the summer break just need to be changed to Winter break Very Happy

Winter? Already feels like Spring where I am Very Happy
Don’t forget the theme reveal of CPC#32 tonight at 8:00 PM French time (CET).

We’re looking forward to seeing many of you take part! It’s a very open contest (Basic, Python, C).
The only constraint: it must run on a Casio machine.

It’s also a great opportunity to challenge yourself and learn, with the community always there to support friends in tough times.
I hope to find the time to enter something into the contest, although time is a very precious commodity these days. Regardless, good luck to everyone who enters!
I hope so !!
FYI, the theme has been revealed one hour and half ago and is :

"L'appel de la Nature" in french, that does not have an exact translation able to cover all the potential meanigs.
So one can use either some of the following translation :

"The Pull of Nature"
"The Pull of Nature"
"The Call of Nature ( Very Happy )"
"The Call of the Wild"
etc.

So let's pick the one you prefer Wink and have a lot of fun coding something great !!
There is still (or only) 2 days before the deadline of the Planet Casio contest.

Looking forward to see you onboard !!!
The CPCP number 32 is now over.
All the tests will be done during next week and results will be published next week-end.
