On a new Windows laptop, I have TI Connect installed but when I try to upload a ti86 *.86g file, it says it cannot.

I also installed TiLP but it cannot recognize my silver USB link cable. Am I supposed to install something to make it see the silver cable? I tried the device set up with no luck.

A side question, is it possible to upload/attach pictures to this forum?

I also have an 1999 Win95 computer that I could install win32 apps on. I did see some link software on way back machine but it looks a bit sketchy. I don't want to install malware. (From rustyman12321??)

Is this TI-Connect CE by chance? I think the non-CE version of TI-Connect still works with the 86, but I've never tried it myself.

TiLP needs some manual setup on Windows to work with USB link cables: we have an old topic about how to set it up that should still be accurate. In short, you need to tell Windows that you want to use a libusb driver for the silverlink so TiLP can see it. If you want to retain the ability to use TI-Connect alongside TiLP, you need to use the libusb-win32 filter driver instead (ideally from an up-to-date source) which is a little more awkward to set up but not that bad.

No. We usually suggest putting your images on imgur or a similar site and linking to them.

Yes ti connect normal works on the ti86, but not the ce (according to ti’s official website)
I will try the above. I may have installed the CE version, I will need to check that. I'd like to get it to work right on my modern laptop.

I did install onto a Win95 laptop the TI 86 graph link software from the way back link. I hope it isn't hacked but I am only running it on a Win95 box that I won't connect to the Internet. I only transfer stuff to it using the floppy 💾 drive. The software appears to work.
Any potential to put Win98SE on your 95 box since you can get some reasonably reliable USB support then, which would assist with transferring programs/games.

Otherwise network sharing may be possible (or a local FTP).
I installed the non CE version. I tested my Win11 laptop transferring to a TI-83+ and it worked perfectly. So perhaps the software isn't as TI-86 compatible as it could be.

The Win95 laptop was purchased from a computer thrift store that refreshes the computers (clean install), they install the newest OS the hardware will take. I trust their expertise. Some of the more vintage stuff gets freedos while some new refurbished ones Win11 and everything in between. Wink
