A month and a half ago, I announced a TI-BASIC Competition: participants had to create 5 algorithms, and to solve it. With each of the 5 tasks, the participants had to write an algorithm in pure BASIC, but there were also some constraints, such as that speed is more important as size, and that some BASIC commands were not allowed. In that 5 weeks, this was the result:
Now can I imagine that people are waiting for the results. But you have to wait, because I need to highlight one Cemetechian, and that is our BASIC expert lirtosiast. Some of his entries were extremely optimized, while most of his entries where the fastest in that category. Unfortunately, his compression algorithm is disqualified, otherwise he should win this competition. I hope to see you in the next BASIC competition, if there will be one! But first.... here are the winners of the TI-BASIC competition:
As KermMartian already mentioned, the winners of the competition will earn honor, glory, and renown as masters of TI-BASIC and optimization. They'll also get official contest winner Cemetech userbars to proudly display in their signatures.
Coming soon...
Congratulations once again to our winners, and a hearty thanks to all of the contestants who entered. I need to single out PT_, without whom this competition would have been impossible. Great job in coming up with the idea and his tireless efforts grading all the entries during his spare free time. Thanks again, bro!
For the curious participants, here are the inputs I've tested all the programs on. You can see the results + exact scoring here. If a cell is empty, it means that you either didn't submit an entry for that task, or it has been disqualified.
- 9 members have submitted their entries: earthnite+jonbush, grosged, lirtosiast, mr womp womp, noelnadal, PT_, Runer112, StarTrekVoyager (STV) and Vital7788.
- There were in total 23 qualified entries. Everyone created an algorithm for task #1, and only 3 participants for task #2 and task #3.

- Third place goes to PT_. With 299.07 points out of the 500, he did a good job
- Second place is awarded to Runer112. With 315.84 points, he needs only 0.36 points more to win this competition, but it is still an impressive score! His compression algorithm was impressive too, because it compresses the string upto 62%.
- The first places are earned by earthnite+jonbush. They optimized their entries for speed, which worked out, because they earned a total of 316.20 points! Congratulations, guys!!
