Man, all of this information would’ve been really helpful while I was figuring everything out from scratch—I wish I’d found this post sooner!
Anyway, I’ve added experimental wired DualShock 3 support to the TI-84 Plus CE. It already works in a modified version of Oiram with the D-pad, analog stick, configurable controls, jumping, sprinting, and pausing.
I’m currently researching a safe OS hook or launcher so it can work with existing unmodified programs where possible. It may not support literally every game through one hook, since different programs read the keypad differently, but that’s the goal I’m working toward.
After that, I’d like to look into Xbox-controller support too. Power draw from the calculator’s USB port looks like it could be the biggest obstacle there.
Thanks for the USB information—this will still be very helpful going forward.
