I ported my Snake C game for the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition to the TI-84 Evo. Yesterday, we were chatting about TI-84 Evo games that had been created so far or could be created, and I realized that no one had made a Snake game yet. Twelve years ago, I adapted a Snake game from an appendix of my book "Programming the TI-83 Plus/TI-84 Plus" to the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition, using the Hybrid BASIC libraries in Doors CSE to make it colorful. This seemed like a reasonable base, so I stripped away the Hybrid components, used some of the interesting characters available on the Evo for the snake, slowed it way down (hint: don't even try to play the game in TI's emulator), and here it is for your gaming pleasure. As with every TI-BASIC game on the Evo, the arrow keys are a bit squiffy, so making sure the calculator actually registered your arrow keypresses will add to the frustration fun and challenge of the game.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I can't claim full credit for writing it quickly now, given that I had 2014 Kerm's work to crib. I must also give credit to tifreak8x, who kindly tested the game on hardware yesterday while I was in the air and lacked the requisite USB-C cable.

It was fun being able to see if I could break it like past projects, but alas, my attempts yielded a solidly coded BASIC Snake game 😁
