Im not sure if this is a bug w/cemetech or ChromeOS screenshots but in previewing the screenshot ur about to take in ChromeOS it shows the size of the area. I was making a profile picture for myself and I had a 230 x 230 screenshot, and uploading it gave an error cemetech saying it was 288x288. Then after seeing the 256 limit, I did a 256 x 256 image and cemetech said it was 320x320, then I realized there was a size difference and found the factor to be x1.25. I found that the max size I could upload was 204.

TLDR: Pic size in cemetech 1.25x bigger than it should be.
Sounds like your system is set to 1.25x display scaling, which would mean the issue is in ChromeOS reporting a misleading size for your screenshots where the actual pixel dimensions of the image are the reported size multiplied by the display scale factor.
