Basically, here's what happened: about a week ago I turned on my TI nSpire CX CAS to take a picture of it for MyCalcs. Now I go to turn it on again -- the progress bar fills all the way up, and then it suddenly tells me that there's no OS.

HOW DO YOU FORGET AN ENTIRE OPERATING SYSTEM

But seriously, what happened here? Is there some kind of failing component or something? I hope not...

(unrelated, but is there a way to scale images using the BBcode tags? right now i'm resizing the images before uploading them to my server.)

All I did was press "on" and waited for the calculator to boot.

It's hard to say without further information; hopefully if you re-send the OS, the problem won't recur!

Unfortunately, there's no way to scale images with BBCode; scaling them before upload is the correct answer.

If it helps, the last time I used the calculator, the touchpad wasn't quite working right.
Edit: Okay that was weird, fixed the quote tags
