[Ti-84-Plus-CE] Any way to make insert mode the default mode

I personally don't like overwrite mode and wondering if I can make insert mode the default and possibly make 2nd+ins become overwrite mode
The calculator doesn't offer a built-in way to do it.
The only real way would be to write a homescreen hook to set the right system flag.
Here's a good example of a homescreen hook on the CE if you're so inclined.
I'm not an assembly programmer, any way to write this in like python or something, or should I just spend the time to learn assembly.
