I even got such a form of malware on Ubuntu - my first serious Linux problem. D= Google kept redirecting to random people's MySpace/Facebook pages, and it took Chrome about 15 password entries to detect that I was on a SCAM Facebook site. I ended up HATING Chrome (at last), it happened on Firefox too (meaning it was a computer issue as opposed to a server issue), and I had to change my FB password...

Ah, sounds like someone had their /etc/hosts file hijacked on Linux, then. Fascinating stuff; I wonder if we'll see the evolution of more quantity and quality of Linux virii as it continues to gain popularity as a consumer OS?

Yeah, I wonder how easily Mac can get viruses installed; I actually see a LOT of spyware/adware on Macs, but not many trojans, etc.

Mac OS, like any operating system, is only as string as the programmers who built it were careful about avoiding exploits and security holes. Mac OS has historically been targeted by many fewer virii than Windows, but that doesn't mean it's more secure. It's just security by obscurity in the long run.

Yah, you're right... Windows is MUCH more popular, so that probably is why it's targeted more often.

Yeah, I was going to point that one out too, but I thought it was just too facepalm-worthy.

My math teacher has a WHOLE lot of money. Her husband was an engineer, and she was a teacher. They didn't have kids. So anyway, she has a mac at home. She has NO idea how to use it. At school she has a Windows machine. So she gave me 20 dollars to scan her computer for viruses. I hate her guts, so I took it, installed ClamWin, and scanned it. Took me almost no time at all. That was really funny Kerm . All I can say is that it happens to me almost every day! You can never say no, and you don't want to say yes. It is so inconsiderate of them to expect help all the time. They never think twice to ask, rather than spend ten minutes and figure it out themselves. Thanks for showing that!
