i saw on the news that the new microsoft phone called something like "kin" sucked or something...

that its more expensive then the new phone, while its not nearly as good.

it was on the news because it was sooo bad that it has been pulled of the market for that reason... Confused

anyone have other news on this?
such as pictures of it and stuff... and the reason why it was so bad...
I had no idea that it was removed, but the issue probably had something todo with the instant backup of photos to the online photobook. My guess is that the online photobook lacked a password or something else and people were able to track other people using it.

Like I said I have no idea, but god only knows Smile
I think they just didn't try marketing to their niche of tweens/teens well, or they picked too narrow of a demographic. Also, the phone was more expensive for fewer features than other similar phones. Microsoft has already killed the project:

What really killed the Kin is that its feature set and pricing positioned it as a cheap phone for tweens/teens, but Verizon structured the plan pricing like that of a smartphone (expensive data, etc...).

It was a decent, cheap phone paired with an expensive plan. Good going Verizon, you guys are morons.

ahh... thats the problem...
wow... is it really all Verizon's fault?

cause if it is... would be pretty stupid for microsoft to give up if it were another company's fault...

They aren't, they are just moving on to Windows Mobile 7

Reading that, I just died a little on the inside. I don't understand why you're (seemingly) attached to a mediocre product that seemed to target a marginal, social-networking-addicted tween population.

Look, even without Verizon's ridiculous pricing plan, the Kin didn't make a whole lot of sense; why start to alienate WinMo manufacturers by building hardware on your own? Why waste time and money on a thoroughly mediocre product (save for the cloud-based stuff), instead of focusing on developing Series7?

As Kllrnohj said, they're not "giving up"; they're merely merging teams, and trying to salvage the interesting parts of Kin and implement them in Series7.

i see...
but is that your theory? or did you read that some where?

also... look at the news every where... its considered as a huge blunder made by microsoft that's extremely embarrassing. So i dont think they would waste their popularity and trust of customers just to do something as you said...

p.s. i have no idea what the hell your talking about when you said "a part of me just died" if parts of you can be struck down by such a simple sentence, then i pity you...
Wow, I am a tween and I saw the commercial for it.... Yeah it kinda sucked, it is worse than Facebook or myspace XD

No, the OS is a precursor to Windows Phone 7. Most of the Kin "OS" is just what was finished from Windows Phone 7.

And the Kin model was a failure. It doesn't make sense financially to keep dumping advertising and R&D into a product that isn't selling.

What I don't get regarding the Kin commercials and ads is that none of them were marketed to tweens, but rather early to mid 20 year olds. Female Tweens aren't interested in a social network experiement, they're interested in Twilight, Miley, Jonas, etc. And Male Tweens, well, don't have a lot of human figures. Instead they have Bakugan, G.I. Joe, and Nerf.

Sure, the phone was geared towards social networking which tweens are eating up, but why not boast commercials with tweens meeting up with the Jonas, or Miley because of the Kin.

I don't watch any Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network or whatever so I can't say these commercials did air but I never saw anything pop-up on YouTube, whether it be a promoted video or a popular video under browse.

I think the point of the kin was really an excuse for Microsoft to get its cloud based services off the ground. Idk if that even makes sense I guess but to me it seems like a beta of their cloud services.
